Ten Hit Songs from TV Shows
Compiled by Craig Hamrick
Originally posted 9.03.06

Lots of TV shows have spawned hit songs over the years. Here's a samplilng:

1. "Differert Worlds," performed by Maureen McGovern, from Angie.

2. "Believe It or Not," Joe Scarbury, The Greatest American Hero.

3. "Three Stars Will Shine Tonight," Richard Chamberlin, Dr. Kildare.

4. "Bonanza," Al Caiola, Bonanza.

5. "Makin' It," David Naughton, Makin' It.

6. "Welcome Back," John Sebastian, Welcome Back, Kotter.

7. "Keep Your Eye on the Sparrow," Rythm Heritage, Baretta.

8. "Quentin's Theme (Shadows of the Night)," Robert Cobert Orchestra, Dark Shadows.

9. "Dragnet," Ray Anthony Orchestra, Dragnet.

10. "Happy Days," Pratt & McClain, Happy Days.

My favorite? Though it wasn't a chart hit for her (or her show's theme song), Patty Duke sang the nonsensical but infectiously fun "Henry the 8th," on The Patty Duke Show.

Craig Hamrick has written several books about Dark Shadows. The two most recent, Big Lou and Barnabas & Company, are currently available on Amazon.com.

Big Lou is the biography of Louis Edmonds, who starred on Dark Shadows and All My Children. Barnabas & Company is a comprehensive look at the cast of DS.
