Stars Keep It All in the Family

No this isn’t about Archie, Edith, Meathead and Gloria. That’s a feature for another time. This TV Tidbits list is made up of related people (aka family members) who’ve worked together on TV. That includes mothers, fathers and children, brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles and nephews and cousins, but not married couples. Joan Davis and daughter Beverly Wills played sisters (albeit younger and older sisters) on I Married Joan (1952-55).

Lucille Ball reworked her series format in 1968 and added her kids, daughter Lucie Arnaz and son Desi Arnaz Jr., to the cast on Here’s Lucy (1968-1974).

The Olsen Twins (Mary-Kate and Ashley)…in everything they do.

Twins Liz and Jean Sagal (they are Katey’s younger siblings) starred in Double Trouble (1984-85).

Sister and brother Heather and David Tom have appeared together on the soap The Young and the Restless (2000), as have sisters Deidre and Andrea Hall on Days of our Lives (2003).

Actors and identical twins Mitchell and Matthew Laurence played the same role on the soap Santa Barbara in 1992.

Twins Joseph and Michael Mayer played Little Ricky as a baby on I Love Lucy (1953-55).

Marlo Thomas' famous father Danny, producer brother Tony (The Golden Girls), and sister Terri appeared on an episode of That Girl called "My Sister’s Keeper," which aired February 6, 1969.

Elizabeth Montgomery made many appearances on her father Robert's popular TV anthology drama series, Robert Montgomery Presents (1950-57 ).

Entertainers Roz and Marilyn Borden (identical twins) played twins Teensie and Weensie on an episode of I Love Lucy, and also appeared on The Ed Wynn Show, The Jimmy Durante Show, Rhoda, Maude, and CHiPS.

Twins Tia and Tamara Mowry starred on the show Sister, Sister (1994-99).

Fraternal twins Erin and Diane Murphy played the baby Tabitha on Bewitched from 1966-1972(Erin took over the roe at age 1-1/2 years).

Conrad and Bonar Bain acted together on an episode of Conrad’s sitcom Maude (Bonar played Conrad’s twin brother…big stretch, right?).

Eric and Brandon Billings acted together on Days of our Lives from 1994-99.

Joan and Jane (Schwartz) Boyd were the original Doublement Twins, and breezed through a series of 12 TV commercials beginning in 1959.

Nicholas Brendon’s twin Kelly played a duplicate of Brendon’s character Xander on one episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Candi and Randi Brough are identical twins who appeared on B.J. and the Bear in 1979.

Twins Robin and Maurice Gibb were two thirds of the Bee Gees and appeared numerous times on TV with older brother Barry, and on occasion with younger brother Andy.

The Andrews Sisters, Patti, Maxine, and Laverne, appeared together on Milton Berle’s Texaco Star Theater in January 1953.

Audrey and Judy Landers acted together in a variety of projects, including the TV movie Deadly Twins (1985).

Hunky, brunet twins Dack and Dirk Rambo appeared together on The New Loeretta Young Show (1962-63).

Donnie and Marie Osmond have worked together in many projects, but none so well remembered as their musical-comedy variety show, Donnie and Marie (1976-79).

Flashy, eighties country babes Barbara, Louise and Irlene Mandrell appeared on the campy and dated (even at the time it was filmed) variety series, Barbara Mandrell and the Mandrell Sisters (1980-82).

Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher chatted on Carrie’s Oxygen network talk show, Conversations from the Edge (May 11, 2003).

Liza Minneli guest-starred on her mom Judy’s early 1960s variety hour, The Judy Garland Show.

Twins Jim and Jon Hagar were regulars on Hee Haw (1969-86) and starred in the TV movie Twin Detectives (1976).

Robert Carradine co-starred with older brother David in an episode of the original Kung Fu (1972). Both appeared with brother Keith, father John, and siblings Chris, Calista, and Bruce in the documentary The Carradines Together (1979).
