Scanning the Internet for Lucy news since 1996
Playing Around Toys have been connected to Lucile Ball and "I Love Lucy" almost from the beginning. There were Lucy and Ricky paper dolls, a "little Ricky" doll after the birth of Ricky Ricardo Jr., nursery furniture and accessories, towels, adult pajamas, dress patterns, and on and on. If it could be licensed, there was likely a product tie-in to "I Love Lucy." One that has just recently come to my attention (via eBay) is a little Ricky hand puppet (left). Made by Zany Toys, Inc., the 10" doll came with his own blanket, dressed in flannel pjs, and with a tag that read "Ricky Jr." Which leads us to the entire category of dolls; some might put it as a subset of toys, but I've given "Lucy" dolls their own page. Click back to the main collectible page to see it.

Something rare like the hand puppet would be available only at eBay or a very specialized flea market vendor (i.e., one targeting TV nostalgia). Other toys could be found virtually anywhere. These include games like Pivot Pool (see pic below), Cross Up, Body Language, and Solotaire, that Lucy "endorsed" circa the 1970s.

Newer "Lucy" items include:
*nostalgic-looking tin signs with pictures of Lucy, Desi or the "I Love Lucy" cast;
*specialized "Lucy" license plates;
*porcelain pieces like ceramic boxes, holiday ornaments, clocks, cookie jars, figurines, mugs and cups, music boxes, and salt and pepper shakers;
*cloth or clothing items like afghans, rugs, pillows, sweatshirts, T-shirts, denim jackets and shirts, pajamas, robes, and slippers, neckties, and tote bags;
*printed items such as cards, stationery, greeting cards (including collectible pop-ups that are no longer made); paper products, postage stamps, prints and lithographs (some of the latter can be expensive);
*CDs and cassettes, albums and eight-tracks (see music entry);
*Recent games like the "I Love Lucy" board game, the trivia game, and puzzles;
*Several different versions of I Love Lucy Monopoly by Parker Bros., available on eBay or Amazon; and
*Miscellaneous items as bears, chocolate and candy (including a bottle of Vitameatavegemin with red hots), keychains, stuff for the kitchen, light switch covers, snow globes, magnets, lunchboxes, mousepads, and videos. As you can see, there is truly something for every taste.
